What is Boudoir Photography?
Boudoir photography is the art of creating beautifully seductive photographs of a woman. Boudoir photography is not nude photography, although there may be an element of undress. Our approach to boudoir focuses on subtlety, and the suggestion of is there without revealing all. We are worlds away from the exploitative ‘glamour’ photography that some may associate with boudoir, and draw our inspiration from the pages of fashion magazines and fine art.
What are ‘Couture Intimates’ ?
A Couture Intimate Session is bespoke boudoir photography, completely tailored to individual clients. The Couture Intimates experience provided by Studio1948 revolves around client satisfaction and providing fabulous and empowering personal images. Like a custom suit, your session is created for you alone.
Who should book a boudoir session?
While boudoir sessions are often booked by a bride who wishes to have something unique and special to give to their future husband, anyone can have a Couture Intimate session. An album of images from the session is given to your significant other as a special gift, but it can be just as important to have something beautiful that you keep for yourself, as a celebration of your femininity and sensuality.
I don’t have a perfect body, so I shouldn’t have a boudoir session.
Everyone wants to lose a few pounds, gain a few pounds, be taller, be younger, and so on. Couture Intimate sessions have their whole purpose in showing women just how beautiful and desirable they really are, right now. Years of airbrushed perfection in magazines have led us to believe that sexy is somebody else. We’re here to show you that the body you have, right now, is perfect. Really.
Is the photographer female?
Yes, Lauralee photographs the Couture Intimate sessions, and when professional hair or makeup is used we contract an all-female team. It’s another way that Studio1948 is different than many other boudoir photographers- we realize that it takes a little chutzpah for women to be seen in very little, and most are more comfortable doing it in front of women.
I’m not a ‘girly-girl’ and I don’t like pink.
You don’t have to be an uber-feminine woman to benefit from the exceptional experience of a Couture Intimate session. I happen to love the colour pink, but that’s just me. And it’s not about me- it’s about YOU. That is what bespoke is all about, creating an experience that is everything you want it to be, and bringing out your sensuality.
Do I have to get naked?
NO.
What if I want to get naked?
The human form is beautiful. However, we do not photograph explicit nudity or couples. We also use a pro lab that has standards we must meet to allow printing. Tasteful nudes may meet that standard.
What do I do to prepare for the session?
After you book your session we’ll send you our Boudoir Book. It’s an e-booklet with tips we’ve compiled from our experience photographing boudoir, including what to wear and how to get ready.

Where do the sessions take place?
We offer two location options for out Couture Intimate sessions. You can choose a basic session which may take place at a location of your choice, in which case you may wish to use your home, or book a nice hotel room (which has the added benefit of the potential for a romantic evening with your lucky partner after we’ve left!). Or, you can book our deluxe session option and we will make the arrangements to shoot your session in a fantastic suite.
What is a ‘Boudoir Marathon’?
A ‘Girls’ Night In’ boudoir marathon is something we offer throughout the year. For a marathon we take limited reservations and shoot sessions back to back for one day in a beautiful hotel suite. Each Girls’ Night In’ marathon session is an hour of photography for each client participating, and up to 2 outfit selections. Every session is private, though as always you are welcome to bring a friend to be there with you. We announce upcoming marathons about a month in advance, and spaces fill up rather quickly so we must book on a first come, first serve, basis.
You always have the option of hosting your own Boudoir Marathon with Studio1948. It’s a fun option for brides to gift their bridesmaids, or just to have a good time with your girls! All you need is 5 people plus you, and you’re good to go.
What kind of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, cheque, money order, paypal and all major credit cards. If you own a Sephora or Starbucks we may even accept payment in lip gloss or lattes. Just kidding (sort of).
