Liz and Kris were married at The Courtyard Restaurant, a beautiful heritage property right in the heart of downtown Ottawa and the Byward Market. It was the perfect choice for this couple who appreciates all the little details that make a wedding beautiful. Liz took time to hand make so many little touches that really made their wedding unique and personal to them (my favorite was the amigurumi cupcake- so adorable) and even though we hadn’t more than 30 minutes together before their wedding I felt like I knew them anyhow. And they have an amazing family, friends for years now joined together by this marriage. It was a wonderful day and we were blessed to be a part of it.

The bride was beautiful of course, but never more so than when she was with her husband-to-be. Liz and Kris opted to do their romantic portraits before the ceremony, ensuring that they looked amazing and not rushed. It’s breaking with tradition a little bit for the bride and groom to see each other before the ceremony, but in a way it’s becoming a new, modern day tradition and a lot of couples value those quiet moments together, before they are surrounded by friends and family.

We also found out that Kris proposed to Liz with a ring pop! Remembering this, Graeme produced a ring pop while we were shooting– it was a big hit!

And where would any couple be without the guys and gals who stand by them throughout the day, for better or, ahem, funnier. We have it on good authority that engineers actually have a fantastic sense of humour!

So naturally a good time was had by all! Their first dance as husband and wife was tender and moving, and everyone in the room had huge smiles- and a few tears as well.

Because it was really all about Kris and Liz, two beautiful people destined to have a beautiful life, together.

Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your day, we never take this for granted.
