Oh, I know it’s Thurday, but just couldn’t wait to share this!
Eco-Friendly Wedding Rings as seen on one of my favorite reads, the Junebugs Wedding blog. You can read the full story at Junebugs.
Weddings are such a great opportunity to do something earth-friendly, as there is so much ’stuff’ going into that one big day. Brides are usually looking for ways to trim costs, but also think about anything that can also be a little kinder to the planet is a fantastic way to celebrate the new union between to people in love. Share that love with the Earth!
Every Friday from now on we’re going to feature a great eco-friendly wedding idea, from favors that use recycled materials or sustainable resources, to sourcing and supporting local suppliers– check here for details every week. The best part about doing something something ‘green’ for your wedding is that often it will be a money-saver. And you get to feel fabulous about making some great choices, all the while making your wedding unique and beautiful.
Back to the rings. When we got engaged my only request was that I didn’t want a diamond ring. It was several years before attention would be brought to the human rights issues that were involved with diamonds, but though we were aware of it at the time, my motivation was more truthfully just that I wanted something unique. I love that my engagement ring is a beautiful deep blue sapphire, it just feels more ‘me’ than I think any other engagement ring would. And recently we were the photographers at an Ottawa wedding were the couple had two very personal and unique wedding rings designed just for them. Very special.
So rings are just one detail (and one that I love to photograph!) of a wedding that can be changed up a little, and made personal and eco-friendly. There are lots more ideas to come! And if you know of a great GREEN wedding idea or item, e-mail us and we’ll share it with our brides.
(I also must mention that I have seen some STUNNING diamond engagement rings, and must admit to a little diamond-envy now and then!
